VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
SOS helps control local feral and stray cat populations through a trap, neuter and release program. Homes that had large numbers of un-neutered cats have been provided Help Fix Me vouchers. As much as possible, cats and kittens are spayed or neutered and placed in homes.
Shops open summer 9-4 (but may vary).
Volunteers are needed to help in the shelter and both gift and thrift shops. Example of tasks needing volunteer help in the shelter: transport cats to and from the veterinarian, help feed feral cats at feeding stations, attempt to socialize kittens :), help trap feral cats, clean cages, and pick up cat food in Machias.
SOS-Lubec, Maine, Inc., Give Us a Chance Shelter is a registered, incorporated shelter for cats, with a 501(c)3 tax exemption. All proceeds of the shops support the shelter. Visitors welcome!
