IF YOU ARE COMING:
From the Canadian Maritimes
If you are passing through U.S. Customs at the border of St. Stephen, New Brunswick / Calais, Maine, go south on U.S. Route 1 to Whiting (approximately 40 miles), then turn left on SR 189 signed to Lubec and Campobello Island.

via Manchester, NH Route 101
- the West, via VT & NH on SR 2
- the Northwest via Quebec,
Canada on Routes 27 or 201
head for Interstate (I95) North.

From Interstate 95

Scenic and Slow
North of Portland, leave I95 at the Freeport exit and continue North on scenic U.S. Route 1, through Brunswick, Rockland, Camden, Belfast, Bucksport and Ellsworth.
A Bit Quicker and Still Pretty
Leave I95 at Augusta, the Maine State capital city, and follow Rte. 3 to Belfast, where you turn North on coastal U.S. Route 1 and on to Ellsworth, via Bucksport

More Miles, Less Time
Stay on I95 North all the way to I395 East, just prior to the center of Bangor. Take exit 6A - Alternate Route 1, which takes you to Ellsworth.
From Ellsworth to Lubec - under 2 hours driving time
Turn due East on coastal U.S. Route 1 to Milbridge; right at Milbridge on Alt. Route 1 to Harrington, and on to Columbia Falls, Machias and Whiting.
At Whiting, turn right onto SR 189, which is signed to Lubec and Campobello Island. Lubec is 11 miles away at the end of SR 189.
NOTE: After 8:00 PM, once you are east of Ellsworth there are few if any options for eating, so plan accordingly.
