With a current population of 920, Pembroke was once known as Pennamaquan. First settled in 1774, it was incorporated in 1832. Though no industry resides in Pembroke today, the town’s history includes shipbuilding, brickyards, a grist mill and salt works. Pembroke is home to Reversing Falls Park.
