PERRY
Incorporated in 1818, the town was named for Commodore Oliver Perry, who had defeated the British on Lake Erie during the War of 1812.
Perry is located on the 45th Parallel, halfway between the Equator and the North Pole. There is a granite marker testifying to the exact location!
Perry is also home to an annual Harvest Fair in early October and to Boyden Lake, (fresh water swimming) and Gleason Point Park, off Shore Road, which intersects with U.S. Rte. 1. The park is complete with picnic sites and an excellent saltwater launching ramp, which offers magnificent views of Passamaquoddy Bay and Deer Island.
