Location: Denbow Point Preserve, Straight Bay Rd, Lubec

National Trails Day is the first Saturday in June! Join us to celebrate hiking and our beautiful regional trails with a walk on DCC’s newest trail at Denbow Point Preserve.

This remarkable property includes forests, low-lying wetlands, and an undeveloped shoreline. Historically, Denbow Point was pasture land. A stone wall and old fences mark that use; its second growth forest has now filled in. As with other rocky outcrops in Lubec, Denbow Point was mined for lead ore. While the mine is no longer active, old rock piles from these mines can still be seen today along the new trail.

The new trail, just over 1 mile in length, leads to the end of the peninsula and offers a stunning 270 degree view of dramatic tides surging over the intertidal ledges and views of Cobscook Bay along the way.

This hike will be approximately 2.5 hours in length.

Outdoor programs are subject to cancellation due to inclement weather, updates will be sent to registered participants.
