See Michael Chesley Johnson's work at Artists Retreat Studios & Gallery, which features the beautiful oil and pastel paintings of this award-winning master artist. You'll find some of your favourite scenes, from Lubec's lupine-studded meadows to colourful boats to Campobello Island's most dramatic bluffs. To see Michael's work online, visit www.MChesleyJohnson.com. Also offered are Trina Stephenson's kaleidoscopic photographs based on natural forms found throughout Downeast Maine and the Canadian Maritimes as well as her fabric creations based on the same. To see Trina's work online, visit www.TrinaStephenson.com. Many sizes and prices are available, so you're sure to find that special something for that special someone! Commissions welcomed.

Artists Retreat Studios & Gallery also offers affordable lodging for visitors to the area. The Sparkplug Suite is a cozy, private apartment with full kitchen and a view of the famous Sparkplug lighthouse and the Lubec Channel with Campobello Island in the distance. The Doubledecker offers spacious quarters, also with a water view, and a full kitchen. Artists Retreat Studios & Gallery is just a block from Water Street with its fine shops and restaurants, and peaceful, scenic Mowry Beach is only a five-minute walk away.

Also offering plein air painting workshops with Michael for the beginner or advanced painter. Small class sizes, usually no more than four students. You'll get much more feedback and personal help in these small workshops. Each Tuesday-Friday workshop runs four consecutive mornings, leaving you the afternoons to explore the area with friends or family. Or, if you want to paint more, you can do that, too! Michael will share with you some of his favorite painting spots in Lubec, from fishing harbours to quiet beaches to lighthouses. For information on workshops or to register, visit www.PleinAirPaintingMaine.com.
