Art Exhibit at the Library
Month of February, Time: Library Hours
Location: Lubec Memorial Library, Lubec
Jeanne Backhaus' art will be on display at the Lubec Memorial Library for the Month of February.
Jeanne has a BFA Degree from the University of Mass. in printmaking. It is here that she developed her love for lines. She has exhibited here in Lubec and in Vermont at Artists in Residence Gallery and the MAC Center for the Arts. In Maine, she has exhibited at the Mulholland Gallery and the Eastport Digital Gallery.
Her watercolor paintings are her studied interpretations of driftwood. Some of them are investigation of line, shape and blank space that are used to create a sense of freedom of motion going in all different directions. In her cobble beach paintings she anchors down the driftwood and takes away its sense of freedom. It is being held in place by the beach.
Her bird drawings are based on Zentangles, a form of Zen meditation invented by a former monk and an artist. She uses a combination of dots, lines, curves and circles to create patterns on the drawings of birds.
