Exhibit at the Library & Reception
Nov, Time: Library Hours
Location: Lubec Memorial Library, 55 Water St, Lubec
"The raw natural beauty of our planet is the inspiration for my life long body of creative work. I use art as a way of exploring the dynamic cycles of life and decay in the natural world. Plein air experiences in nature and subsequent photography feed my work back in the studio. Painting is my method of choice at this time, and I like to explore the varied effects achieved through using oils, watercolors, and acrylics. The works chosen for viewing at the Lubec Library are a collection of landscapes inspired by the Adirondacks of upstate NY and the downeast Maine region. Each artwork represents a special space, a spot where I literally sat -inspired- with my paints and brush in hand, absorbing my surroundings and then translating my observations into vibrant color and line.My goal is to transport you there."
Julie Takacs has spent her entire life as a creative, sharing her feelings and visions inspired by our natural environment through art, dance, and music. The exploration of nature and ecology continue to be a strong theme in her work and she uses a variety of mixed media to express her feelings and vision. She resides in Machiasport with her husband Chris and little dog Jasper.
Julie's art will be on display for the entire month of November, with a reception held Saturday November 8th 12-2pm.
