How to Spin Art Yarn at the Cobscook Institute

Location: Cobscook Institute, 10 Commissary Point Rd, Trescott
This is not a beginner spinning class. You must already have some experience spinning on a spinning wheel to take this class.
Spinning a thick Single
Core Spinning with crochet thread
Putting bling and add ins in your Art Yarn
Supply List - To be provided by each student:
Spinning Wheel with two or three bobbins and a Lazy Kate or Bobbin holder
Core for Spinning pick one or more of these (Some will be provided and are included in class cost - students may supplement if they wish.)
Crochet thread (Instructor can provide crochet thread)
Fine yarn (wool)
4 ounces of prepared fiber (Some will be provided and are included in the class cost - students may supplement if they wish.)
Possibilities… Get colors you want to play with!
Wool Roving need 2- 3 ounces for Art Yarn
Batts (Search for Art Batt)
Fun Fur yarn
Beads (need to fit on the core and through the orifice of your spinning wheel)
Luxury Fibers (some of these are very pricey) optional
Angora, Alpaca, Silk (unspun, not thread), Baby Camel, Cashmere, Yak
Included with class cost: an undyed luxury fiber sampler, it will include Alpaca, Angora(bunny), and Silk; crochet thread. Instructor will also bring some fun fur yarn and beads for all students to play around with adding to their art yarn.
