Pauline Cates: A Teaching Life in Rural Downeast
Nov 16, Time: 2:30 PM
Location: Lubec Memorial Library, 55 Water St, Lubec
Pauline displays her high school prom dress purchased at the Unobsky Department Store.
Pauline Cates taught area children for over fifty years , much of that time spent at the Whiting Village School. Join us as she tells the story of growing up in Cutler, times spent in Lubec, and years teaching at a well-regarded rural "school house," soon to enter its 200th year. "Our two-room school house is situated at the center of a small village, next to a church and a cemetery. My classroom windows over-looked a millpond, and three old apple trees border our playground....," she wrote in 1991.
Join us for refreshments and an opportunity to meet Pauline following the presentation.
