Volunteer Work Party - Western Head
Sep 23, Time: 9 AM
Location: Western Head, Cutler
The volunteer work is replacing all of the bog bridging through the meadow at the beginning of the trail. The good news (especially for anyone who has been involved in long carries!) is that we can drive up to the start of the trail and only have to carry the tools and materials for short distances. Building bog bridging is a satisfying task. With many hands, we will complete this project in a few hours and our accomplishments will be laid out before us in all its glory.
Western Head is a favorite area hike with a little bit of everything: perfect views of beautiful Cutler Harbor, trails through mossy glens, bold rocky coast with stunning views of Grand Manan and the channel, crossings over several cobble beaches and more.
Please bring work gloves, boots that can withstand boggy ground, drinking water. Depending on the size of the group, we may need a lunch break, so bring lunch. I’ll bring snacks to share. We will provide tools.
Let me know if you plan on coming. Hope to see you there!
